Hitting them in the pocketbook.

"My daughter disappeared on May 30th. My first reaction was sheer panic. Within six hours after hearing that Natalee was missing, I was headed for Aruba.”

Beth Twitty has experienced the horror that every parent fears: The disappearance of her only daughter. In the three-and-a-half months since Natalee went missing, Beth has dedicated her life to unlocking the mystery behind her daughter’s disappearance.

Natalee was last seen around 1:30 in the morning on May 30th getting into a car with three young men. Witnesses say 18-year-old Joran van der Sloot along with two brothers, 21-year-old Deepak and 18-year-old Satish Kalpoe departed from a local bar with Natalee in a small four-door vehicle.

“The boys say they left Carlos 'N Charlies, drove around to the lighthouse, then they dropped her off at the Holiday Inn at 2 a.m.,” says Beth, yet she is skeptical. "You can't be the last three men to be seen with a young girl alive and not have any information about where you left her. And I knew that my daughter had never been brought back to the Holiday Inn lobby. I knew that was a lie.”

After 10 days police arrested the Kalpoe brothers and Joran. While in custody, the young men changed their story to say Natalee spent time alone with Joran at the beach at the end of the night, and that he left her there alone. Days later Joran’s father, Paul van der Sloot, was also arrested, though he was released 48-hours later. In the coming days, the Kalpoe brothers would be released, as well.

Investigators searched the ocean, and they searched the local dump. “A witness told police that he'd seen these three young men placing Natalee's body in a landfill,” says Beth. A tip from another witness led them to drain a nearby pond.
